A garden in West Molesey was damaged during a suspected arson attack at the weekend.

Police believe the garden, at an address in St Peters Road, was damaged sometime between 6.30pm on Saturday, June 7, and 9.30am on Sunday, June 8.

A number of logs were thrown into a pond, plants were pulled up, tables had been upturned and officers believe the offenders also tried to set fire to a minibus parked at the address.

PC Paul Langree, from Elmbridge safer neighbourhood team, said: "It is fortunate the fire in the van did not take hold or this could have been a much more serious incident which could have resulted in someone being injured or worse.

"Surrey Police will not tolerate antisocial behaviour of this kind I urge anyone with any information to contact police so that we bring those responsible to justice. I would urge anyone that has any information about this mindless act of vandalism to do the right thing and contact police.

"Similarly, if you saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area overnight between Saturday and Sunday to let us know - any information could prove vital to the investigation."

Anyone with information should call Surrey Police on 101, quoting reference 45140046930, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
