A family has been left shaken after luxury watches, clocks and a substantial quantity of jewellery were stolen from their home.

The burglar stole a diamond ring, crystal decanters, an iPhone and sat-nav during the burglary in the Links Road area of Ashtead last month.

The home was burgled sometime between 7.10am on Saturday, May 24, and 6.15pm on Monday, May 26.

The haul included mantle and dome clocks as well as Seiko Honda, Citizen EcoDrive and Tag Heuer watches. A tantalus (lockable) carrier for three crystal decanters was also taken.

DC Lewis Flanagan said: "The victims are understandably very shaken and upset and we are doing everything we can to trace the items and return them to the owners.

"Much of the property is very distinctive and some of the watches and clocks are engraved with the family name.

"We are hoping that someone might have been offered them for sale recently or has specific information about this burglary so we can locate the items and bring any offenders to justice."

Anyone with information should call Surrey Police on 101, quoting reference 45140043019, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Breaking into and stealing from somebody's home is one of the most disgusting things a scumbag or scumbags can do. I hope these guys are caught and brought to justice. Unfortunately the punishments are too light in this country. If somebody stole from my home I would want their hands cut off and if I happened to be there when they broke in I would ensure they thought twice before ever considering breaking in to somebodys house again.
