Crafty students will find out if they have won a fashion competition run by department store John Lewis today.
Twelve students from Barnet and Southgate College, in Wood Street, were tasked with designing a dress to celebrate the chain’s 150th anniversary.
They were instructed to include influences from John Lewis’ heritage while reflecting the fashion of today.
For inspiration, the students visited the company’s heritage centre in Berkshire, where they viewed its textile collection, which dates back over 200 years.
The winner will get the opportunity to create the design, using fabric from the store’s haberdashery department which will then be displayed in the womenswear department at John Lewis, in Brent Cross.
Community liaison co-ordinator, Amanda Timothy said; “It’s been great to see the students gain inspiration and develop their ideas, it will give the winner a fantastic opportunity to start their career.”
