Police have released video footage after a hit-and-run driver left a teenage girl bleeding in the road last month.

A pickup truck knocked down Chelsie, 13, in Tattenham Way, Tadworth, on her way home from the Beacon School at 3.15pm on Thursday, May 15.

Her grandmother Christine is determined to track down the "cowardly" driver who drove off down Great Tattenhams towards Epsom Downs Racecourse.

A motorist travelling behind the pickup truck has now came forward with footage, filmed from their vehicle, prior to the accident.

The wing mirror was knocked off what is believed to be a black Mitsubishi L200 pickup truck, which had white writing on its side. The driver is described as a bald white man, who is about 30 years old.

Chris Broadley, manager of the Traffic Processing Unit, said: "We are hoping that the CCTV footage will jog memories of people who were in the area on the day, or who may know the driver of the vehicle who we want to talk to about this incident.

"This was a distressing incident for the girl involved and her family and we would like to reassure them and the public we are doing what we can to track down the offender."

On Tuesday grandmother Christine said: “It’s going a bit cold and I really don’t want it to. Just please keep looking. If anyone suspects their husband or father or anyone please get in touch.

“I know that it is a hard thing to ask, but please just give us the information that we are looking for.”

She added: “I feel very angry with that person, that they could leave someone like that. It’s had an affect on the family.

“We are still looking, we are not going to rest, we are going to be looking all the time.”
