More than 1,300 children and parents took part in this year's Festival of Fun at Strawberry Hill House in Twickenham on Sunday.
A record number of families attended the event, sponsored by Morrisons Solicitors, which was the launch of Summer at Strawberry, a programme of workshops for children to be held this summer.
Activities included storytelling in the garden’s willow grotto, where children heard stories by the fairy Olivia Malaure of Whirligig Parties.
Families picnicked in the grounds with many bringing along stuffed toys to enjoy the Teddy Bears’ Picnic.
Children took part in the competition to design a miniature garden on a plate, with Lucas Dawes, three, Katie and Lily Temple aged seven and eight, and Erikas Daniels, 10, winning in their age groups.
Laura Teale, operations manager, said: “This is the second year we have run an event to launch Summer at Strawberry and we were delighted to welcome so many families to Strawberry Hill.”
The programme for children runs until August 30.
