Two boys are bucking the teenage trend and have set up their own business selling cookies.

Sam Lachmann, 12, and Asher Kelvin, 13, decided to set up their own business, Cookie Dealers when they made more than £300 after starting with a tenner at a school challenge.

Now the pair have set up their own stall at the North Finchley Feast market, in Lodge Lane, and have been raising money for WaterAid.

Showcasing a plethora of homemade delights, the business partners spoke about the humble beginnings of their business.

Sam said: “It all started with the tenner project when we made £360 after start with just £10. Once the project was over we didn’t want to stop there and we wanted to see how far we could take this.”

Asher added: “The first time we did a stall we were quite nervous because we weren’t sure how people would react to a 12 and 13-year-old selling cookies.

“We are more confident now and helping a good cause like WaterAid means a lot.”

When asked about how far the business could go, Asher said: “Obviously, we would like to keep things going for as long as possible and hopefully this can become successful.

“We love selling our cookies and last time we sold out so we are hopeful of doing the same thing again.”

Market organiser Kate Roddy said: “They have done very well to set this up and I am very impressed with how they have gone about their work.

“We want to encourage more teenagers to set up their own stalls at the market place and we are thinking of having an event specifically for teenagers.”
