Story one: A painter has spoken of his pride at working on a mural tribute to Alfred Hitchcock near the director's childhood home.

Working with illustrator Anna Mill, Mateusz Odronby created a flock of birds on flat fronts in High Road, Leytonstone, which pays homage to Hitchcock’s 1963 classic The Birds.

Story two: A pub described by police as a haven for drug dealers and users could be closed down.

The Lord Brooke in Shernhall Street, Walthamstow, is the subject of a licence review. Police raided the premises in March and claim to have found evidence of open drug distribution and use.

Story three: Chase Lane Primary School won the Football League Kids Cup at Wembley stadium on Sunday, hours before Leyton Orient were left heartbroken following their play-off defeat.

Demaray Anaydike was the hero, as the team from the school in York Road, Chingford, beat Nottingham High Junior School 1-0.

Story four: A man has been jailed for causing death by dangerous driving after leaving his friend for dead in Chingford following an earlier collision with a lorry.

Saulius Kipraitis, 32, was sentenced at Wood Green Crown Court, to four-and-a-half years in prison after pleading guilty at an earlier hearing. In June last year, Kipraitis drove his car at speed after a party with Elvadas Kacerauskas, 30, as passenger.

Story five: The historic Wood Street Market could be halved in size in less than six months if developers look to meet a deadline to build flats.

According to Walthamstow MP Stella Creasy, planning permission to convert part of the site was granted three years ago as the market was considered under-occupied and unlikely to have a future as a commercial venture.
