Schools across Richmond have just one week to apply to become one of 20 solar schools in 2014/15.
The project will provide 20 teams of staff, pupils and parents with the training, support and tools they need to fund the cost of solar panels.
Solar Schools has supported 50 schools in collectively raising over £350,000 from local people and businesses and installing over 600 panels.
Richmond Council leader Lord True said: “Solar schools is an exciting new way to teach pupils about energy by involving them in a positive, practical project that uses renewable energy.
“It will give pupils new skills and confidence that can be applied to other projects in the future.”
