Runners pounded the streets to help raise £3,000 for a special needs charity.

A group of ten people from across north London took part in the BUPA 10K fun run to support Jewish special needs charity Kisharon.

It was the first event of its kind for Jonathan Samuel, a software developer from Hendon, whose 10-year-old son Micah has Down’s Syndrome.

Micah has been a pupil at Kisharon Day School for just over a year and his father finished the race in one hour and 28 minutes.

He said: “I wanted to raise money for the school because I think it is wonderful.  “It was a big change for him but he has settled in well with a small group of children where he can have friends who are his peers.”

Nicole Peppi, from Edgware, beat her target and finished in 67 minutes.

She said: “The weather was perfect - just right to run, and it was really inspirational seeing thousands of runners all for amazing causes.”
