Police investigating the murder of a Pakistani politician have released details two men they believe are connected with the incident.

Dr Imran Farooq, 50, was on his way home from work on September 16, 2010 when he was attacked outside his house in Green Lanes, Edgware at around 5.30pm .

Detectives from Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism Command have released information about two men who lived in the Stanmore area at the time they would like to speak to in connection with the murder.

Moshin Ali Syed, 29, and Muhammad Kashif Khan Kamran, 34, are both Pakistani nationals who were both in the country in September 2010 and left the country on the evening of the murder.

Police are calling for anyone who may have known the men either while they were in the UK or in Pakistan to get in contact.

Dr Farooq died from multiple stab wounds and head injuries after he was attacked with a kitchen knife and a brick.

The father-of-two was a founding member of the MQM party, Pakistan’s third largest political party, but had lived in England in self-imposed exile since 1999.

In June last year a 52-year-old man was arrested at Heathrow Airport, arriving from Canada, on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and remains on police bail.
