An expanding  park authority has organised a host of week-long activities for May half term.

This week, Lee Valley Regional Park (LVRP) has initiated a 'sheep week' at the Park's farm in Stubbins Hall Lane, Waltham Abbey, whereby children can watch sheep have their annual haircut and see the wool spinners at work.

As part of 'Love British Farming' week, there will be a tour of the working dairy and arable farm on Wednesday and a tractor and trailer ride.

The iconic White Water Centre in Waltham Cross is  offering hour-long canoe taster sessions at the cost of £5 but children must be aged eight and over.

For group sessions, the centre is offering hydrospeeding and kayaking at £50 and £100 each respectively.

The Leyton-based Ice Centre in Lea Bridge Road is offering the public the chance to watch professional ice-skaters compete for free at the IJS Free Skating and Paris Open Competition, taking place today and tomorrow.

With the official launch of the VeloPark in April, the new public facility including mountain biking, road track, BMX cycling and the velodrome is offering taster sessions cotsing between £12 and £22 between today and Friday.

To experience the velodrome track where 13 gold medals were won at the 2012 Olympic games, kids must be aged 12 upwards.

There is a £4 pay and ride price on the BMX course if you bring your own bike and have passed the induction.
