A woman was punched in the face in an unprovoked attack near Claygate Recreation Ground last week.

The victim, aged 54, was walking her dogs along the path next to Claygate Primary School between 12.45pm and 1.15pm on Saturday, May 17, when the attacker approached her from behind, grabbed her and punched her in the face.

It is believed after the attack, another dog walker helped the woman, who was shaken and had facial injuries, and took her to Claygate Parade.

Police Constable Godbold said: “This was a completely unprovoked attack and I would like to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or the events surrounding it to contact officers with information.

“Officers would particularly like to hear from the man who was walking his dog, which is believed to be a white bulldog, who went to the aid of the victim after the attack.

“Surrey Police will not tolerate antisocial behaviour of this kind I urge anyone with any information to contact police so that we bring the man responsible to justice.”

Anyone with information should call Surrey Police on 101, quoting reference 45140040169 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
