Despite the start of the World Cup being three weeks away, Spain has already been victorious.
As the sun shone, children at the Thames Ditton Schools Football Club (TDSFC) rounded off the season with a World Cup-themed tournament.
About 200 girls and boy from Thames Ditton Infant and Junior schools took part in the event at Colets Health and Fitness Club and competed in teams representing the countries in the impending football tournament.
Spain was the overall winner of the event on Saturday, May 18, after claiming the most trophies from teams across reception through to year 6.
All youngsters taking part received medals, with top goal scorers and outstanding players in each year group awarded trophies.
John Robson, chairman of TDSFC, said: “The annual TDSFC world cup tournament is always a very well attended event and one which both the children, coaches and parents all look forward.
“It is an opportunity to celebrate the children’s progression throughout the football season and also to remind ourselves of what our club is all about – enjoying the fantastic game that is football.”
