Pupils from Baston House School in Bromley joined other children and young adults for the Autism’s Got Talent at London’s Mermaid Theatre.

They were among 550 people who came from across the UK, Eire and Italy to appear and support the show which is now in its third year.

Celebrities guests included Carrie and David Grant who have two children on the spectrum, Debbie Moore OBE founder of Pineapple Dance Studios and clothing and Jordan Lee Davies, finalist from The Voice from Team Will.I.am who has just secured a role in Les Miserables.

Anna Kennedy OBE, who founded Baston House School, launched the event to showcase the musical and dance talent of children and young people on the autistic spectrum.

The youngsters spent 10 hours running through their routines on May 10 before they were ready to perform before friends and family.

“In a little under 10 hours we were able to transform an empty theatre into a vibrant show, bringing together amazing acts,” said Anna, mother of one son with autism and another with Asperger’s Syndrome.

“Everyone who came to see the show were blown away by the talent of the performers. This for many of the performers is the highlight of their life and is a platform to showcase what individuals on the spectrum can really achieve.

“People on the autism spectrum are not second class citizens and are entitled to make their mark in the world like everyone else!”
