A teenage drug dealer from Croydon has been found guilty of stabbing a customer three times in broad daylight in Epsom town centre.

Deighton Wilson, 17, from Thornton Heath, has been standing trial at Guildford Crown Court for stabbing Carlos Ferreira on November 27 last year.

The youngster claimed that he only stabbed Mr Ferreira in self-defence after he and his friend Dean Price stole cannabis from him during a drug deal gone wrong.

But a jury today returned a unanimous verdict of guilty of wounding, a lesser charge to the one he had been accused of, which was wounding with intent.

Before the trial started, Wilson - who was 16 at the time of the offence - had already pleaded guilty to possessing five bags of cannabis, worth ᆪ50, with the intent to supply; and possessing a knife in relation to the same incident.

He will be sentenced at Guildford Crown Court next month.
