Soldiers, evacuees and police officers came together to celebrate the 1940s as the sun shone down on Brooklands Museum.

From street parties and cinema screenings to dance lessons and exhibits from the Second World War, the decade that changed the world was re-lived by war enthusiasts of all ages on Saturday, May 17.

Brooklands and its aircraft factories played an important role throughout and following the war and the buzz the site created during time returned once again.

The celebration of all things wartime finished at midnight, with an “all clear” siren sounding to mark the end of the day of historic fun.
