FIVE charities have a share of an £180,000 active communities fund from the People’s Health Trust.
The money was raised through the Health Lottery.
Acton Play Projects and Leisure Events (£21,184), BBA Media (£14,960) in Ealing, G.O.B Club (£15,620) in North Acton, Hillingdon Asian Women's Group (£39,140) and Riana Development Foundation Network (£32,140) in Cranford have all benefited.
Acton Play Projects & Leisure Events received money to deliver a monthly dinner club for young people aged 12-18 from deprived and difficult backgrounds in East Acton.
BBA Media will use the money to recruit 12 young people from Hanwell to create a weekly community radio show.
G.O.B. (Get Outta Bed) Club will deliver trainer decoration workshops for young people between 12 and 25 in North Acton.
A series of yoga, art and craft and self-esteem workshops will all be on offer from Hillingdon Asian Women’s Group.
A mentoring project, to train 20 young peer educators on the Brabazon Estate in Cranford will be run by Riana Development.
Active Communities is for community groups and not-for-profit organisations with an income of less than £350,000 a year that are seeking investment of between £5,000 and £50,000 a year, for projects lasting up to two years.
