Families with love ones affected by dementia can benefit from free training workshops.

The scheme ties in with National Dementia Awareness Week, which runs from May 18- May 24.

The service is being offered by the Sutton-based at-home care provider Home Instead.

Those who attend will learn how to spot the early signs of dementia, and will be given a deeper understanding of the condition.

They will also be taught how to deal with some of the behaviours associated with it, such as refusal, delusions, aggression and false accusations.

Tony Ward, a director at Home Instead, said: "The workshops are not just limited to family members.

"They are accessible to anyone who may interact with someone with dementia.

"Our aim is to reach out to everyone in the local community."
