People are being called on to help provide translations of the borough’s motto to mark its anniversary.

Harrow made a borough by the Queen 60 years ago in 1954, and Harrow Borough Council is calling for people to help translate its motto – Salus populi suprema lex – which means ‘The well-being of the people is the highest law’.

A total of 88 languages are spoken in Harrow and the council would like a translation of the motto in each one.

Languages needed include Akan, Amharic, Finnish, Gaelic, Hungarian, Kurdish, Mandarin, Pakistani Pahari, Pashto and Romani.
