A driver has been robbed at knifepoint in a "terrifying ordeal" on Saturday afternoon.

The robber and a female accomplice tailed the victim's vehicle before forcing the male driver to hand over his car keys, watch and money in Ruxley Lane, Ewell, at about 4.30pm.

The man, who was thin, with a gold tooth, tattoos and a shaven head, then drove off in his own car in the direction of Gatley Avenue.

Before the robbery, a dark Ford Focus followed the victim’s car along the road near Ruxley Church.

A car flashed its lights for him to pull over and the Asian carjacker, who had a London accent, tattoos on his arms, a white T-shirt and jogging bottoms, threatened the victim in his 30s at knifepoint.

His accomplice, the female driver of the Ford Focus, was slim, black and in her late teens or early 20s, flashed its lights for him to pull over.

She had dark trousers and a grey and black checked shirt.

Detective Sergeant Leigh Wall said: "We are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident and anyone who can assist with our enquiries is urged to come forward and speak with police.

"This was no doubt a terrifying ordeal for the victim and it is completely unacceptable for someone to be threatened in such a manner.

"Following the incident a thorough search of the area and other enquiries were carried out and the investigation will continue today.

"We will also be liaising with other local police forces and do all we can to find those responsible."
