A patient in his 20s fell to his death from a hospital tower on Friday evening.

The man fell at 6.20pm from a tower at Epsom Hospital and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust confirmed that the man had been using their services at Epsom Hospital.

The trust said: "He fell from a tower and he was pronounced dead at the scene. We offer our sincere condolences to his family.

"We are currently supporting Surrey Police with their enquiries."

A spokeswoman said she believed it was a water tower.

The trust has three mental health wards, with about 30 patients on average, at Epsom Hospital.

A Surrey Police spokesman said: "An investigation will now take place into the circumstances surrounding the death but at this stage it is not believed there was any third party involvement."

This is absolutely disgusting, you should be ashamed of yourselves spreading this news over the Internet without informing the family. The family I expect is going through enough without you posting it in the Internet for everyone to see.

As a close friend of the family, I have to correct you on a few facts here. Firstly we were informed of this tragic information on Saturday, so your point is incorrect. Secondly, the man in question's friends are asking what happened to him; this is not incorrect information and it is FACT, a tragic and sad fact. Finally, the only one who should be ashamed is you for posting your closed minded and "assuming" messages on here. We are all hurt by this but we all know what happened. We were FULLY informed before this went out in the newspaper. Do you even know the person in question?! I guess not if you're being this ignorant. Rest in peace; we all miss you and I wish you'd seen just how many people loved and cared about you. I hope you're in a much better place now x
