A student drew on the life of a butterfly when she came up with a winning design for a new college logo.

Luiza Madjarov won Barnet and Southgate College’s competition to create a new symbol, beating five other finalists in an online vote.

The 20-year-old, who is in her second year of a foundation degree in graphic and multimedia design, said: “My theme was based around the emergence of a butterfly; you come to college as a caterpillar and college is your cocoon while you learn. After your course you emerge as a butterfly.

“One of the most exciting things has been working with the external design agency on bringing my ideas to life, and learning how they work and seeing how the whole design process works.

“It’s amazing that my actual design is now in use and it’s so exciting to see it in print today.”
