UPDATE: Waste4Fuel High Court hearing adjourned until June

This Is Local London: The Waste4Fuel site in St Paul's Cray The Waste4Fuel site in St Paul's Cray

The Waste4Fuel High Court hearing, which started this week at the Royal Courts of Justice, has been adjourned until at least June.

The Environment Agency (EA)'s case against Waste4Fuel, whose site in Cornwall Drive, St Paul's Cray, has caused misery for local residents, began on Tuesday afternoon.

The hearing was expected to last three days.

The EA is seeking contempt charges against Waste4Fuel, former company director Bryan Hughes, new company director Shelley Hurst and site manager Jonathan Beckson.

A High Court order was acquired in November last year, requiring all combustible waste to be removed from the site by May 1.

Fire services have been called to the plant 12 times in the last 12 months, with locals voicing concerns about the health implications of fumes being emitted.

Jon Griffin, waste team leader at the Environment Agency, said: "As far as we are concerned, the site should operate in accordance with the final terms of the court order issued last November, meaning we expect the site operators to remove combustible waste from the site.

"Between now and the next appearance at the High Court, our officers will continue to monitor Waste4Fuel’s compliance with the original court order closely."

I expect the adjournment was to allow Waste4Fuel to build the hill a bit high then go into liquidation and the tax and rate payers will have to pick up the bill for the removal. This has been going on for far too long and should have been sorted months ago it would have been if next to Farnborough Park.

This country, its politicians, its councilors, its judicial system and the hierachy of agencies and quangos is beyond help.
What more can a company or individual (waste 4 fuel) do to prove they dont give a toss and yet still do what they want to without any fear?

I honestly can't see why the EA haven't done something long before now. And if they didn't have the power to shut it down why haven't they got other agencies involved? The Health and Safety Executive, for example.

Like I keep saying - let's have a total clearout of our local representatives at all levels MP/Council/MEP and tell them this is a single-issue for all forthcoming elections.

Surely the voting public of this area can see now that they are being totally ignored by the very people they pay to represent them!

And like I keep saying that's a daft ignorant statement. None of these oeople can do anything. That's the law simple. Only the EA can take action and they are. Why don't you ask for the judge to be sacked. It would make more sense

The EA are "taking action" - you could have fooled me !

As I have said many times, Bromley already has a host of executive powers to stop this site trading in an instant - but choose not to use them.

What you have to work out is why ?

And when you have done that - you will see why we have to get rid of these people via the ballot box.

They are (supposedly) a recycling site

Waste gets taken there and they take it for landfill, where they pay per ton

Now if the heap catches fire the amount they have to take for landfill is substantially less, so they pay less

Or am I being suspicious?
