Infamous drug smuggler Howard Marks set for Crystal Palace festival fundraiser
The World’s most notorious drugs smuggler will bring his wild tales and good humour to south east London.
Ahead of the Crystal Palace Overground Festival from June 26 to 29, a pre-festival fundraiser featuring Howard Marks will be held at Kingswood House in Dulwich on May 29.
The good-natured Welsh ex-con, whose life was made into a film starring Rhys Ifans called Mr Nice, will bring his spoken word show Scholar, Smuggler, Prisoner, Scribe.
The show looks back at four action-packed and extraordinary phases of his life with trademark honesty and humour, from his time as an academic to becoming a drugs trafficker, incarceration in a tough US jail and his current career as an author.
Crystal Palace Overground Festival chairman Noreen Meehan said: “Howard is truly a phenomenon of our times, a man who has surfed and survived many trials and tribulations, using his trademark humour.
“We hope that our faithful festival revellers will come and enjoy his many tales followed by DJs and a bar afterwards."
Tickets cost £12.50 at ticketline.co.uk/howard-marks
