An epic painting of the view from Tattenham Corner across Epsom Downs will be the centrepiece of a new exhibition by a specialist horse artist.

The oil painting, Final Furlong, took Brett Lohn more than six months to produce and shows the stunning local landscape clothed in a fiery sunset.

As the Derby approaches, Lohn is hoping that his limited edition prints of the painting, which will hang in the exhibition alongside his portrayals of Frankie Dettori’s Derby victory and other equestrian scenes of Epsom, will help to promote the beauty of the county to local residents.

The exhibition will feature prints and greeting cards of this and many of Lohn’s other paintings.

Born in Epsom, the landscape artist has received widespread recognition for his modern yet realistic style of painting - and he says he has never had to look far for inspiration.

"I am always moved by the amazing beauty to be found in our own county," says Lohn, who now lives in Headley.

Lohn will be at the exhibition in person to discuss his landscape work and to accept commissions.
