An aspiring singer of this year's biggest talent competition has spoken to pupils about his rising claim to fame.

Micky Dumoulin, 25, of Waltham Abbey, visited Chingford C of E Primary in Kings Road to speak about his childhood and Saturday's performance on Britain's Got Talent.

The former semi-pro footballer for Harlow Town wowed all four judges with his rendition of 'Bring Him Home' from Les Miserables, watched by 12 million Britons.

Mr Dumoulin told pupils how he had been overwhelmed by the public's support and explained how the last seven days had been "surreal".

Year 5 pupil Adam Wilson, 10, described his visit as "a very special experience" and added: "I will be voting for Micky if he gets through to the next round."

The school's deputy headteacher, Ian Osborne, who taught Mr Dumoulin 14 years ago, said: "It's great to see Micky again.

"I'm so proud of him and the way he has inspired the pupils today."

Why is this rubbish encouraged in schools? It has no place there.

We as a country need Doctors, Dentists, nurses, plumbers, carpenters, electricians and so on, not more 15 minute wonders,

The chances of making it 'big' in music and entertainment are slim and it is ridiculous to remotely have this kind of role modelling in education.
