Police in Waltham Forest have released a CCTV image of a suspected petrol thief. 

Suspect 137608 is wanted in connection of petrol theft from the Texaco garage in Forest Road, Walthamstow on November 11 at 4pm.

The driver of the grey coloured Renault Clio is accused of driving off without paying £36.84 in fuel costs.

The CCTV image has been released to the Guardian as part of a joint venture with the Metropolitan Police to identify potential perpetrators of unsolved crimes in the borough.

Anyone with information should contact Waltham Forest police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Don't know why you got some thumbs down - Paying first is normal in the USA and many other countries, the attendant just sets the individual pump to stop when the amount paid for is dispensed!

Total common sense and would put and end to this rising crime.

Why didnt they release it the same day??? He must have been in dozens of other garages by now, and possibly nicked more petrol.

I bet in America they would have had a news helicopter following him straight away or they would have released his photo much quicker.

Because of scum like him, most of the pumps in Morrisons are kept switched off now.
