Superheroes, fairies and cartoon characters are being called upon to enjoy a scenic walk along the Thames in aid of Princess Alice Hospice.

Whether you want to walk four or eight miles, the Towpath Trundle is suitable for all the family, with walks starting from either Sadlers Ride or Walton Bridge.

A free fancy dress competition will take place at the walk, which happens at 11am on Sunday, May 18, so now is the time to dust off your Superman, Batman and other novelty costumes.

While the walk takes place, a family fun day complete with stalls, games, a magician and food and drink, will be available at Hurst Park from 11am to 4pm.

Jane Formby, from the Friends of Princess Alice Hospice, said: “Last year we had more than 600 walkers taking part, which was wonderful and raised much-needed funds for Princess Alice Hospice.

“This year we hope for even more trundlers and there will be trophies for the highest fundraisers and biggest teams.

“Although you don’t have to dress up, it certainly adds to the fun and we hope as many people as possible enter into the spirit of things and are as inventive as they were last year.”
