A Cobham man, killed after being hit by a train at Teddington station on Easter Monday, has been named as Michael Hughes.

The 65-year-old was treated by paramedics after the incident on April 21 but was pronounced dead at the scene.

When the Richmond and Twickenham Times visited his home in Freelands Road, Cobham, there was no answer but there were video cameras pointing towards his doorstep.

A British Transport Police spokesman confirmed the death was not being treated as suspicious.

Witnesses reported seeing the air ambulance helicopter land in nearby Bushy Park while traffic through the park was halted.

The incident caused major disruptions to train services and the surrounding routes as two passenger trains remained stationary off-platform.
