A Lewisham headteacher says he is taking the reported 'stabbing' of a 14-year-old pupil "very seriously".

Three teens have been bailed after the victim received a "stab or puncture wound" to his leg and was taken to hospital on April 30.

London Ambulance Service (LAS) were called to Prendergast Vale College, formerly Lewisham Bridge School, in Elmira Street, to reports of a stabbing at around 3pm.

Headteacher Paul O’Neill said: “The safety of pupils at our school is our utmost priority and we are taking this matter very seriously.

"We are working closely with the police as they conduct their investigations and to ensure the continued safety of our school community.”

LAS sent one ambulance crew to the scene and treated the teenager who was taken as a priority to hospital.

A Met spokesman says the victim had a "stab or puncture wound" to his leg and two 14-year-old boys and a 14-year-old girl were arrested in connection with the incident. They were bailed until mid-June pending further enquiries.

An LAS spokeswoman said: “We were called just before 3pm to reports of a stabbing.

“We sent one ambulance crew to the scene and our staff treated one patient, reported to be a teenage boy. He was taken to hospital as a priority.”

A Met spokesman added the boy was not believed to have been seriously injured.
