Movie buffs who visit the cinema next year will spot one of the borough’s most picturesque landscapes on the big screen.
The 18th century landscape garden at Painshill Park will be shown to the world in upcoming Hollywood blockbuster, Suffragette, staring Carey Milligan, Helena Bonham Carter and Meryl Streep.
The Portsmouth Road garden and its famous lake were used by the film’s production company for parkland scenes for the film, which is due to be released on January 16 next year.
Mike Gove, chief executive officer of Painshill Park, said: “We were delighted to chosen as one of the settings for the filming of the Suffragette movie. With 158 acres of diverse landscape garden, Painshill is a fantastic film location which can be used for both modern and period productions.”
Suffragette, written by Abi Morgan, is a drama following the story of foot soldiers of the early feminist movement where women were forced underground to pursue a dangerous game of cat and mouse.
