A New Cross workshop aimed at getting youngsters off the street has been given £16,000 by Tesco.
The supermarket giant provided the grant for a new bicycle repair workshop, which will run out of an adapted shipping container.
Free for children and young adults, the scheme is run by New Cross Road-based Somerville Youth and Play Provision group. The donation will help to provide all the necessary tools and parts required.
The Met Police have also backed the venture, donating old and stolen bicycles to help reduce crime and disorder within New Cross, by giving youngsters a space to meet up and learn new skills.
Group director Bradley Cummings said: "This grant will allow us to deliver structured some exciting new workshops for young people, giving them an alternative to hanging out on the street or committing anti social behaviour."
