A strongman from Walton will compete in one of Europe’s most gruelling challenges alongside 11 of the UK’s fittest, fastest and strongest.
Stuart Amory, 38, a personal trainer, will take on the 13-mile Fisherman’s Friend Strongman Run at the Nürburgring in Germany and will tackle 17 obstacles made from reinforced steel.
Mr Amory will compete against 12,000 fellow runners to face an array of difficult obstacles including plunging into a pool of ice cold water, suffering electric shocks and braving swamps of quicksand.
Mr Amory said: “I’ve been taking Team GB out to Germany every May for five years to give Blighty a presence at the race series and last year I managed to come 22nd out of 12,000 runners.
“This year I’m determined to beat that and perhaps even win the title.”
The race takes place on May 10.
