THE Ealing Mini Mile has opened for registration as the event enters its second year.

The race, which will take place on Sunday, September 28, runs alongside the Ealing Half Marathon.

Runners aged 6-16 are invited to apply for one of the 400 places.

Sandra Courtney, event co-ordinator, said: “Running is a great way to stay active and it brings people together. We want to give young people the opportunity to experience the atmosphere of a big race.”

It covers a one-mile route around Lammas Park and the age categories are split into 6-11 and 12-16.

Runners of all abilities are encouraged to sign up, and the organisers are working closely with schools to ensure many will share the inspirational atmosphere.

Sandra added: “As keen runners ourselves, we are passionate about promoting running as a sport that’s accessible to everyone, no matter what their level, age or background.”

The entry fee is £7.50 per child and finishers will receive a T-shirt and medal.

In the first Ealing Mini Mile last year, Charlotte Buckley, of Thames Valley Harriers, won in 5.43.
