Legendary rockers Status Quo have been named as the final act on the bill at this year’s Sandown Park Live.

The internationally acclaimed English rock band, who have had more than 60 chart hits, have been rocking all over the world for six decades and are not ready to hang up their guitars just yet.

Made up of Francis Rossi, Rick Parfitt, Andy Bown, John Edwards and Leon Cave, the band, who have worldwide record sales in excess of 118m, will take to the stage on the first of Sandown Park’s summer concerts following an afternoon of racing.

Founded by Rossi and Parfitt in 1962, the band endured a number of line-up changes before The Status Quo was christened in 1967, changing to Status Quo in 1969.

The Quo released their first single, Pictures of Matchstick Men, in 1967, and their latest track was put out in 2010.

The band, with a combined age of 261, have spent more than seven-and-a-half years in the British singles chart, promises to get Esher rocking with all their classic hits.

Racegoers will be treated to firm favourites including Rockin’ All Over the World, Paper Plane, Down Down alongside songs from their latest album.

Rupert Trevelyan, regional director London of Jockey Club Racecourses, said: “Status Quo is the final act confirmed for the Sandown Live music nights and we are delighted with the bands we have performing this summer including Jessie J, Wet Wet Wet, Tom Jones and the Brand New Heavies.

“Tickets are already selling fast so early booking is highly recommended.”
