Organisers of an annual music festival are to launch a 24-hour live music event to raise money for a charity that helps victims of sexual and domestic violence.

The Stow Festival team will kickstart the 'Stow-a-Thon' event at The Rose and Crown Pub in Hoe Street, Walthamstow, at midday on May 4.

Music will be performed throughout the night by people of all ages from children to ageing rockers, and will finish at noon on May 5.

The music marathon aims to raise funds for The Haven, a Waltham Forest-based charity which supports, assists and empowers children and adults who have suffered sexual violence, abuse, and domestic violence.

Chris Casey, a survivor of abuse and founder of the charity, said: "The Haven is really excited at being a part of Stow-A-Thon which will be a great community event.

"Our charity is the only generic survivor led organisation in Waltham Forest that supports victims and survivors of all forms of sexual and domestic violence, so we are thrilled that the Stow-a-Thon has chosen to support our vital work in the borough."
