A motorcylist convicted of several motoring offences has avoided jail.

Charlie Jay, of Little Friday Road in Chingford, has been handed a four month suspended prison sentence for 12 and ordered to carry out 140 hours of unpaid work.

He was sentenced at Thames Magistrates Court on April 15 after admitting to driving a motorbike dangerously, failing to stop when required by police, driving without insurance, and possession of cannabis.

The 21 year-old was arrested and charged on March 19 following reports of a moped speeding between north Chingford and Chingford Hatch just after 5pm.

Several police cars and a helicopter were involved in the chase last month.
