Police appeal after elderly lady is mugged

Police are appealing for witnesses after an elderly lady was injured in a robbery.

A thief snatched the 76-year-old's handbag as she walked home in Village Road on Wednesday, April 16 at 7.30pm.

The woman had noticed a man, described at a black, about 6ft tall and of slim build and aged between 19 and 20, sitting outside Ascot Court in Village Road.

As she walked past him, he grabbed the bag from her shoulder, causing her fall to the ground.

The woman was treated for facial injuries at an east London hospital.

The man was last seen in London Road, Enfield.
