Snapper donates picture to St Helier Hospital after the original was stolen from a ward wall

An amateur photographer has donated an inspiring picture to St Helier hospital to replace one that was stolen.

Carshalton man Geoff Christian is still hoping the thief that stole a picture of Tower Bridge he had framed and gave to St Helier hospital decides to give it back, but as that has not happened despite an appeal in this newspaper, he has had another one made and gave it to the hospital.

Mr Christian originally gave the picture to the hospital to hang in the room where his uncle was being treated, but after he left the picture was taken and has not been returned.

Now he has had another picture of the bridge, taken when it was adorned with the Olympic rings, framed and he donated to the hospital.

He said: "It's exactly the same picture. I'm glad it will be there for other patients as my uncle certainly liked it. Even before he knew, he could tell it was me that took it. As it was being brought in, he said 'that's nephew's picture'.

"It's obviously disappointing the first one has gone but I hope this one will provide hope to other patients."

The first picture went missing earlier this year. There are only three versions of it in existence - the one in the hospital now, one Mr Christian donated to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution and the one that was stolen.

Mr Christian  added: "If someone sees one anywhere else, then it is probably the stolen picture and I hope someone will tell the Sutton Guardian if they see it."
