New technology is revolutionising how social care is delivered in Bexley.
Care staff employed to work with residents in their homes will soon be using call logging via a free telephone number which should also reduce paperwork.
The system will record evidence of when carers arrive and leave and will automatically feed this information into an invoicing system for the council.
The system allows for adequate time for carers to greet people and settle in so that the provision of care is not rushed.
Bexley’s cabinet member for adult’s services Councillor Chris Taylor said: "When the carer arrives they call the free phone number using a resident’s phone.
"There is no cost to the person receiving care, but the system protects them and their carer.
"The system will also provide a degree of safety for staff."
The new technology will be introduced starting from this month.
