Police have released an image of a man wanted in connection with an attempted burglary.

The picture is now being circulated after an attempted break-in in Springfield Road, Walthamstow.

At around 4.50am on March 30 a man attempted to gain entry to a house but the door was double locked.

Eventually the man gave up and left the scene.

Detective Sergeant Vince Fedder said that this crime is an example of how important safety measures are in the borough.

He said: “This resident’s vigilance in double locking his external door has prevented him from becoming a victim of burglary. This clearly demonstrates the beneficial effect of making use of all existing security features on your home.

“We understand the upset and inconvenience caused by becoming and victim of crime and urge residents to work with us to protect their property by locking burglars out and by dialling 999 if they see anything that looks suspicious.

“Officers would rather attend a false alarm than miss the opportunity to prevent a member of the public from becoming a victim of burglary.”

Anyone who can name this person should contact Detective Sergeant Fedder of Waltham Forest C ID by dialling 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously quoting reference number 145167.
