A trust that has been looking after wildlife in a Palmers Green park for more than three decades has appealed to people not to harm the animals.

The Animal Hostel Trust, set up more than 30 years ago, takes care of animals in Broomfield Park in Palmers Green.

Founder Yvonne Treon is hoping that people will listen to the trust's message and continue to not harm animals such as foxes.

She said: “We go about our business quietly, looking after all the animals in the park. I have a number of volunteers who give up their time to take care of them.

“Somebody has to do it and we urge everybody who comes to the park to treat the wildlife with care. We struggle with funding but we must continue fighting on.”

Ms  Treon, retired, claims that someone is on duty every day of the year and the group has good links with the RSPCA and police.

She added:  “We have been doing this for more than 30 years and hopefully I will be able to pass this on to the next generation to keep looking after the variety of animals that live in our parks.”
