A pregnant Dartford mother and her three-year-old son miraculously emerged unhurt after a car flipped, smashed into the front of their house and sent bricks flying through the living room window.

Former Northfleet School for Girls pupil Louise Jolliffe, 24, was at the bottom of the stairs with son Ronnie at their Heathclose Road home when the Renault Megane came careering into the front wall.

It was around 8.50am on April 14 and Louise, who is four months pregnant, had come downstairs a bit later than usual as she was suffering from a migraine.

The part time bar worker at The Chequers pub in Darenth told News Shopper: "I just heard this screech and then an almighty crash.

News Shopper:

Ronnie would have been watching TV when the car hit if Louise hadn't had a migraine.

"There was a lot of glass shattering and then a brick flew through the window and I screamed.

"I panicked and I don’t really know what happened.

"Ronnie was at the bottom of the stairs crying and I was screaming and telling him to stay where he was."

The car smashed through the red brick wall at the front of the four-bedroom, end-of-terrace house before slamming into the living room wall and breaking the front windows.

The mother-of-one says the TV her son would have been watching was thrown to the ground by the impact.

Louise, who grew up in Meopham, said: "I am quite glad I had a migraine because otherwise my son would have been in front of the TV.

"Usually he’s down there having breakfast and watching CBeebies.

"Ronnie would have been smothered in broken glass and could have ended up in hospital which is not worth thinking about really."

Louise says a man in his 20s managed to clamber out of the passenger door apparently unhurt before asking her if she was ok.

News Shopper:

The impact obliterated Louise's front wall.

She said: "He was quite lucky really because I don’t know how he could get out from something like that after turning the car on its side.

"Cars do hammer it down here. We have been complaining for years about how fast people go.

"Do they need somebody to die for something to happen about it?

"I could have been out there putting my son in the car."

A Kent Police spokeswoman said: "Police were called to Heathclose Road, Dartford at around 9am following a report that a car had collided with the wall of a house.

"No one was injured in the incident."
