A man in his 40s died after he fell from a roof this afternoon.

The advanced trauma team from London’s Air Ambulance was dispatched to Hospital Bridge Road, Whitton at 3.10pm today, April 14, but left the scene soon after.

The police confirmed a man, thought to be in his 40s, had died after suffering from serious head injuries.

The death is being treated as unexplained and police are working to locate and inform the next of kin.

The Health and Safety Executive has been informed of the fall.

David Grimes, 80, who lives about eight doors down from the house the man fell from, said he thought the man was working on the house when he fell.

He said: “As far as I know a man fell from the roof through the glass of a porch that was being built and he died from his injuries. It's very sad.

“I was surprised, as I did not even hear the helicopter landing.”

A spokesman from the London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at about 3pm to reports of a fall from height in Hospital Bridge Road.

“We sent one ambulance crew, three responders in cars, one ambulance officer and London’s Air Ambulance.

“On arrival, sadly the patient was pronounced dead by London’s air ambulance.”

Enquiries are ongoing and officers from Richmond and Twickenham CID are leading the investigation.
