AN Ealing toddler and baby music group has been nominated for the What’s On 4 2014 Junior Awards.

Sound Generation is nominated in the Best Local Activity for the Under 5s category.

The group, set up by new mum Sofia Wilde, aims to introduce babies and toddlers to basic music concepts, such as dynamics, pulse, tempo and pitch.

Sofia was encouraged to set up the group after having a child in April 2012 and realising there was a need for music sessions that used live instruments and not pre-recorded tracks.

She said: “I’m thrilled my class has been nominated, especially as we launched it only just over a year ago. The response from parents has been really fantastic and it’s down to them that we received the nomination, for which we’re so grateful.”

Sofia is a talented musician herself, playing the piano, flute, ukulele and several other world instruments.

“My eight-month-old loves the class,” said Idaira Pardo, a parent who attends Sound Generation.

“He really enjoys the music and props, and I love the way he interacts with music and other babies. It is a very natural environment, without over-stimulation, which is refreshing.”

The winners will be announced at an award ceremony on June 20 at the Drayton Court Hotel.

The awards cover a variety of categories including Best Pre/Post Natal Activity and Best After School Club.

For the second year in a row, they are taking place across the globe, in Australia, Ireland and the UK.

Voting for nominees ends on May 15. To vote, visit www.whatson4littleones.co.uk/
