Three men have admitted breaking into a secondary school by smashing the windows.

Tony Weedon, 29, of no fixed address, Joey Wilson, 18, of Cann Hall Road, Leytonstone, and Ryan Greenhow, 18, of Langthorne Road, Leytonstone pleaded guilty to the burglary at Rushcroft Foundation School in Rushcroft Road, Chingford in court yesterday.

The men were arrested on suspicion of burglary an hour after the break-in on February 19, in which two windows were smashed but nothing was reported stolen.

Police were called to the school at 2.20am after neighbours reported hearing the alarm.

After viewing CCTV footage, officers then tracked down Weedon, Wilson and Greenhow in nearby Gordon Avenue, Highams Park.

The trio, who appeared at Thames Magistrates Court, also faced charges of taking a blue Ford Focus without the owner's consent, and vehicle interference.

Detective Inspector John Randall, from Waltham Forest CID, said:

"Burglary is a Waltham Forest borough priority and I hope this successful outcome highlights the hard work of officers who fight this crime.

"School burglaries have been a particular problem and I hope that this case will deter others from committing similar crimes on the borough."

The men have been remanded in custody for sentencing at Snaresbrook Crown Court later this month.
