Wealdstone dispersal zone gets six-month extension

This Is Local London: Map of the dispersal zone in Wealdstone Map of the dispersal zone in Wealdstone

A dispersal zone set up by police to tackle anti-social behaviour has been extended by six-months.

Harrow Police and Harrow Borough Council have agreed to keep the area around Wealdstone High Road in operation until October 6, 2014.

Police say there has been a fall in the number of crimes reported for the area during the six months the dispersal order has been in operation.

However they say the level of drug offences, theft and violent crime is still higher than other areas of the borough.

The order will cover Harrow and Wealdstone Station, Harrow Leisure Centre and Byron Recreational Ground, all the way up the High Street to Harrow Weald Bus Garage.

Yes,it has been in place since a few years but is still very much in demand for the results it brings.naturally the Ppolice are fighting hard to deal with drugs and other related crimes which still plague this area. All the same extending this dispersal order is a good move.

i find it strange that a high street with such a large police station is the most dangerous and unwelcoming in the whole of the borough! surely just a continual police presence in the area would make a massive difference (and no i dont mean a couple of pcsos hanging around the bus stop outside the library)

The problem as i see it is the few officers we do have are stuck in police cars attending urgent calls all over the borough we need extra officers to deal with the grass root problems, I still see the drinkers openly drinking from cans of strong lager in wealdstone if i see them why dont the cctv operators? Or maybe they do but because its a low level crime its not worth calling for it to be dealt with? We seem to be able to allocate resources when it comes to anpr stop n checks etc we need an absolute zero tolerance reaction to Wealdstone
