A former Sir George Monoux College student gained national acclaim last night after winning the BBC TV programme The Voice.
Jermain Jackman, the Labour Party youth coordinator for Hackey, graduated from the Walthamstow college last year.
The 19-year-old is the first man to win the competition and he has landed a major record deal.
He won the public vote after performing Wrecking Ball by Miley Cyrus and Pure Imagination from the 1971 Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory film.
