If this really happened at 10.30am, how on earth did it take South Easter/Network Rail so long to sort this out. I was at Cannon Street at 5.40 and there was still major disruption, with no trains leaving the station and the freight train still at Charlton!

Thank god for DLR. Not something I would use everyday but in these instances is definitely the way to go.

Did you just expect them pick the train up and put it back on the track? they would have had to assess for damage, which apparently, points were damaged which means the signals would not have been able to function properly.
You got home a little late? Oh well, at least you got home.
I checked before I left work and decided to leave and get the first train leaving cannon street which took me to bexley where I was met (or i would have got a bus) and got to the nursery to pick my son up.

Oh dear my heart bleeds that Hk got home late because of the derailed train.
Do you think the driver and other engineers just pick up the train or jack it up like a car. What planet are you on get your head of the clouds and step into the real world. The track was damage the train itself was damaged the signalling was damaged the cables for the signalling was cut through.
You should have checked b4 you left work and the derailment happended after 12midday and not 10:30. Maybe next time yes why don't u travel by DLR.
