Children proved they are maths marvels when they showed their parents just how much they enjoy the subject at a fun day.
Pupils from Etz Chaim Jewish Primary School, in Daws Lane, Mill Hill, took part in a maths-a-thon as part of World Maths Day celebrations.
The Year 1 and Year 2 children were given a series of maths challenges - including learning to count to 100 and backwards and writing in numerals.
Parents were then invited to the classrooms to take part in a series of maths games, challenges and activities.
Nikky Schofield, whose seven-year-old daughter, Izzy, is a Year 2 pupil at the school, said: “It got them excited about maths and helped them view it as an everyday tool.
“It was done in such a way the kids wanted to participate, and they didn’t get the fact they were learning because they were having fun.”
World of Maths, a traveling maths show, helped the school put on the problem solving activity day.
Pupils were given a series of maths challenges as part of their homework, and asked family and friends to sponsor them for each of the 25 questions they had to answer.
They then took a vote and decided to donate the money to Camp Simcha, which helps children with cancer and other life threatening illnesses.
In total, they raised £1147 for the charity.
Mrs Schofield added: “It was great to see the children and adults persevere when they found an activity tricky and their excitement and pride when they found the solution.”
